Regulation Respecting Requests for Eviction Feedback Report Now Available for Viewing

The Kahnawà:ke Legislative Commission wishes to inform the community that the Feedback Report for the Regulation Respecting Requests
for Eviction has been reviewed and analyzed and is now available for viewing.
The feedback was compiled during the 30-day review period of the draft regulation that took place from November 30, 2023, to January 10, 2024.
However, as the feedback period occurred over the holiday season, the deadline date was adjusted by a week to provide adequate time for the
community to review. The Review period was also extended for a further week from January 29, 2024, to February 2, 2024. As well,
additional feedback was obtained from a focus group held on February 7, 2024.
The draft regulation is pursuant to the Kahnawà:ke Residency Law. The regulation is a necessary component for the implementation of the law.
30-day Feedback Period begins for draft Regulation Respecting Requests for Eviction Orders

The Kahnawà:ke Legislative Commission (KLC) wishes to advise the community that the
draft Regulation Respecting Requests for Eviction Orders pursuant to the Kahnawà:ke
Residency Law is now available for the mandatory 30-day Feedback Period.
The draft Regulation will be available for a thirty (30) day feedback period
beginning today and ending on Wednesday, 10, Tsothohrhkó:wa/January 2024.
Enactment of Draft Regulations for the Kahnawake Residency Law

The Kahnawà:ke Legislative Commission (KLC) wishes to advise the community that no comments were received for the Kahnawà:ke Residency Law (KRL) Draft Regulations during the 30-day review period that ended on May 8, 2020.
The KRL Draft Regulations will now move to Phase III for Enactment. They can be viewed below.

The Kahnawà:ke Legislative Commission wishes to advise the community that the Technical Drafting Committee for the Kahnawà:ke Residency Law (KRL) has completed its consultation with the community to draft Regulations for the KRL.

The Kahnawà:ke Legislative Commission wishes to advise the community that the Kahnawà:ke Residency Law was enacted at a duly convened Council meeting held 17, Ohiarí:ha/June 2019. The Kahnawà:ke Residency Law was passedvia Mohawk Council Resolution #1/2019-2020. The Confirmation of the Will of the People was signed by all twelve (12) Chiefs in Council.

DRAFT KAHNAWAKE RESIDENCY LAW POSTED FOR VIEWING, HEARING SCHEDULED FOR MARCH 21st

The draft Kahnawà:ke Residency Law (“the Law”) has been posted for viewing at the following link: Draft Kahnawake Residency Law
The Law is classified as ‘Urgent’ and a date has been scheduled for a Community Decision Making and Review Process Hearing on Thursday, 21 Enniskó:wa/March 2019 at Kahnawake Shakotiia’takéhnhas Community Services. The meeting will begin at 6pm and close at 8:30pm.
Persons who are planning to participate in or attend the Hearing are being urged to view the draft Law in advance of the meeting to familiarize themselves with the draft.
