Mohawk Council of Kahnawake Election Law Amendments Enacted

The Kahnawà:ke Legislative Commission (KLC) wishes to advise the community that amendments to the Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke Election Law were enacted at a Legislative Session (duly convened Council meeting) held 2, Onerahtókha/April 2024.

Consensus by the community to accept amendments had been reached on 20, Enniskó:wa/March 2024, through the Community Decision Making and Review Process. Council unanimously passed the Law via Mohawk Council Resolution (MCR #1/2024-2025) and by signing the Confirmation of the Will of the People, thereby concluding the Process.

In addition, Council also unanimously passed a Mohawk Council Executive Directive (MCED #2/2023-2024) to ratify amendments to the related Regulation to ensure consistency with the newly amended Law.
