MCK Election Law Hearing February 21 at Moose Lodge

The Kahnawà:ke Legislative Commission (KLC) wishes to inform the community that the Hearing for the Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke Election Law is scheduled for Wednesday, February 21, 2024, at the Kahnawà:ke Moose Lodge from 6pm to 9pm. If the review of the draft amendments is not completed, the Hearing will continue Thursday, February 22, at the same time and location.

The agenda will be as follows:

  • Review all of the proposed amendments to the Elections Law, time permitting. Key Areas:
    • Amendments required due to the implementation of the Kanien’kehá:ka of Kahnawà:ke Law (KKL)
    • Amendments to reflect Kanien’kéha terminology
    • Amendments to process timelines in the Law

A minimum of ten (10) community members on the Kanien’kehá:ka Kahnawà:ke Registry are required to be in attendance for the Hearing to occur.

Interested persons should pre-register their attendance by contacting Lana Snow of the Executive Office by 4pm on Friday, February 16, 2024, at 450-632-7500 or by email at lana.snow@mck.ca.
