Trisha Delormier new Kahnawą:ke Legislative Services Legal Counsel

The Kahnawą:ke Legislative Commission (KLC) is pleased to announce Trisha Delormier as Legal Counsel for Kahnawą:ke Legislative Services (KLS).


Trisha Delormier will provide legal support and services to KLS regarding legislative drafting and amending of laws and regulations, categorization of laws, and input throughout the Community Decision Making & Review Process (CDMRP).

Trisha previously worked for the Mohawk Council of Kahnawą:ke Legal Services at the start of her legal career before moving to Saskatchewan in 1998. She spent the greater part of her career advancing the resolution of outstanding First Nations’ land grievances as Executive Director, Lands and Consultation Branch within the provincial Ministry of Government Relations. Since her return home in 2019, Trisha has worked in a variety of settings.

Trisha has a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) degree from Queen’s University and is a member of the Law Society of Ontario. 

Kahnawake Legislative Portfolio Ietsénhaienhs Tonya Perron remarked, “Given Trisha’s extensive knowledge and experience in the areas of constitutional law, legislative and governance processes, we are looking forward to her positive contributions to the community in this new role and are excited that she has joined the legislative team in this important role.”

Ms. Delormier began her position on October 2, 2023.
