KLCC announces name changes

11/24/2022

The Kahnawą:ke Legislative Coordinating Commission wishes to announce that over the past months, it has updated and revised certain names/titles.

First, the Kahnawą:ke Legislative Coordinating Commission has removed the word “Coordinating” from its title since the Commission itself is not responsible for coordinating legislative activities and is now the Kahnawą:ke Legislative Commission (KLC).

Second, a distinction needed to be made between the Commission itself and the legislative office and its staff. Therefore, the legislative office will now be called Kahnawą:ke Legislative Services (KLS).

Finally, the KLC has revised the name of the Community Decision Making Process (CDMP). It will henceforth be referred to as the Community Decision Making and Review Process (CDMRP) to reflect the difference between the Type I Process (whereby the community approves the mandate, purpose, and scope for laws), and the Type II Review Process (whereby the Council of Chiefs approves the mandate, purpose, and scope for laws).
