New draft of Kahnawake Membership Law posted for Community Feedback

The Kahnawą:ke Legislative Coordinating Commission (KLCC) wishes to advise Kahnawa’kehró:non that the new draft of proposed amendments to the Kahnawą:ke Membership Law has been completed and has now entered the 30-day Community Feedback period.,

The new draft was compiled from the eighteen (18) meetings held in the First Hearing phase of the Community Decision Making Process.

In this instance, the period will actually extend to 31, Tsothorhkó:wa/January 2018 for a period of 43 days.

The new draft is available for viewing at www.kahnawakemakingdecisions.com or by clicking http://www.kahnawakemakingdecisions.com/legislation/laws/docs/Membership-Amendments-Dec2017.pdf>here. Kahnawa’kehró:non are asked to address their comments to shari.lahache@mck.ca.

Once the Feedback has been collected, a Feedback Report will be generated. A date will be set for the beginning of the Second Hearing phase of the Community Decision Making Process once this task has been completed.

Please note that the Kahnawą:ke Membership Law will be formally renamed the Kanien’kehį:ka of Kahnawą:ke Law when the amendment process is completed.
