Extra hearing date confirmed for proposed Kahnawake Tobacco Law

The Kahnawą:ke Legislative Coordinating Commission (KLCC) would like to inform Kahnawa’kehró:non that a date has been secured for an additional Hearing for the proposed Kahnawą:ke Tobacco Law.

The next meeting will be held on Thursday, 16 Ohiarķ:ha/June 2016 at the Golden Age Club. As per usual, the meeting will get underway at 6pm and run until 8:30pm. This will be in addition to the meeting scheduled for Tuesday, 28 Ohiarķ:ha/June 2016.

The agenda will consist of Sections VIII (Certificates and Other Forms of Authorization); Section IX (Price Controls); Section X (Community Contribution Fund); and Section XI (Administration, Inspectors, Enforcement, Judicial Process, and Coming Into Force). These are the final four sections of the proposed law.

Should the agenda be completed, Community Representatives will also be chosen as a measure of oversight for the Drafting Team, which is responsible to make changes to the draft in respect to the community’s wishes during the Hearing process.
