Tentative date set for First Hearing for proposed amendments to Membership Law

The Kahnawą:ke Legislative Coordinating Commission (KLCC) would like to advise Kahnawa’kehró:non that the First Hearing of the Kahnawą:ke Membership Law has been tentatively scheduled for Tuesday 7, Onerahtókha/April 2015.

The proposal to amend the law entered the Community Decision Making Process (CDMP) consultation phase in 2012. On 30, Tsothohrkó:wa/January 2013, consensus was reached to amend the law.

This was followed by numerous meetings to determine purpose, scope and intent of the amendments. At the conclusion of this process, a draft of the proposed amendments was created and was made available for Community Feedback. The Community Feedback period ended on 23 Tsothohrkó:wa/January 2015. A report on the feedback received is being compiled and will be made available shortly.
