Justice Hearing Wednesday Afternoon

12/15/2009

The Mohawk Council of Kahnawą:ke would like to remind the community that the Justice Hearing will be held tomorrow (Wednesday) afternoon from 1 to 4pm at the Kahnawą:ke Moose Lodge.

The question posed to the community will be, “Should judgments, orders and decisions from a (Kahnawą:ke) justice system be recognized outside the Territory?” It is the third in a series of four questions being asked in the hopes of gaining a mandate to proceed with a Kahnawą:ke-based justice system.

A consensus was close to being reached at the November meeting. Because of this, participants requested they return to the same groups for the next hearing in order to continue the discussions where they left off. New participants will join the existing groups.

Tomorrow’s hearing will be the first to be held in the afternoon. The first four hearings were held in the evening.
