Consensus reached on first four Sections of Kahnawake Justice System Law01/22/2014The Mohawk Council of Kahnawą:ke (MCK) wishes to announce that consensus was reached on the first four Sections of the Kahnawą:ke Justice System Law at last nights Community Consultation. The proposed law is now in its Second Reading which, in the Community Decision Making Process, takes place once a second draft of a proposed law or amendment to a law is completed. Last nights meeting, which was attended by approximately ten community members, resulted in consensus on the sections on the Preamble; Generalities; Forums; and Court of Kahnawą:ke Hearings. No changes were proposed for any of the sections. The next Community Consultation on this topic will take place from 6pm to 8:30pm on 4, Ennķska/February 2014 at the Golden Age Club.
