Dates set for next two community consultations for Membership Law Amendments

The Kahnawą:ke Legislative Coordinating Commission (KLCC) wishes to inform Kahnawa’kehró:non that dates have been set for the next two Community Consultations on amendments to the Kahnawą:ke Membership Law.

All Consultations will take place at the Karonhianónhnha School Gymnasium and are scheduled for a period of two-and-a-half hours (6pm to 8:30pm). The Consultations will take place on the following dates:

1.Tuesday, 16 Onerahtókha/April
2.Thursday, 9 Onerahtohkó:wa/May

Once again, the specific item to be discussed will be the criteria for Membership. Consensus was not reached at the fourth Consultation and the meeting will continue where it left off.

Upon consensus being reached on the amendments, a Technical Team that will include community representatives will be created to begin the process for drafting the actual amendments.

As has been stated previously, community members are strongly urged to read the relevant documents and information, which are available at the Membership Office (located at the Social Development Unit at the Services Complex).
