Justice Act Hearing Next Wednesday, October 21, Report Posted10/15/2009The Interim Legislative Coordinating Committee would like to remind all Kahnawa’kehró:non that the hearings for a proposed Kahnawà:ke justice system will continue next Wednesday, 21 Kenténha/October, at the Karonhianóhnha School gym from 6 to 9pm. A report on the 7 Kenténha/October hearing has been posted on this website (www.kahnawakemakingdecisions.com). At the conclusion of that hearing, there was no consensus reached regarding the question, “What issues or concerns should the justice system address?” Therefore, discussion will continue. Should this concluded at a sufficiently early time, the third question (“Should judgments, orders and decisions from a Kahnawà:ke justice system be recognized outside the Territory?”) will be addressed. Please note that the next session will begin at 6pm, a half-hour earlier than the first two. The Kahnawà:ke Justice Commission is using the new Community Decision Making Process to ask for a mandate to proceed in the creation of a justice system. View PDF |
